Top 10 Films Of 2025

10. Tron Ares – Now I know it was far from perfect but considering my relatively low number of new releases and my lifelong status as a fan, I knew I couldn't put it higher than this.

9. Wolf Man – Solid new approach to an immortal classic and I'm always on the lookout for what the Universal Monsters will return as next.

8. Nobody 2 – Basic but fun, a solid continuation in my books, and whether or not we get a third I'm quite happy with these two!

7. Ballerina – An interesting side story for the hardcore fans and an enjoyable watch for a casual like me, Ana you are a welcome addition to the action her pantheon.

6. Mickey 17 – Original moviegoing sci-fi with a solid cast, dark humor, and a fanbase that no doubt will sprout from the underground in years to come.

5. Predator Badlands – Almost ingeniously simple in terms of plot and yet very engrossing, and this is a story I would love to see have a continuation on screen.

4. Frankenstein – Yeah yeah Netflix original, well I saw it in the theater and it's my damn show so I'll do as I please! Far from super faithful but intensely engaging and the fan base could not be lovelier, so Guillermo you hit a home run yet again my friend.

3. Superman – Quite a kickstart to the new DC movies and firmly cements David as yet another great Superman, with tremendous heart and hope this is gonna be a beautiful addition to my movie collection.

2. Companion – I could not have fallen for this movie more, the twists and turns, the dark and yet liberating story, this was a damn hard movie to beat but ohh we got one more don't we....

1. Sinners – You're goddamn right. Holy fuckaroli people need to wake up and see this movie, and if you've already seen it well I guess it's about time to watch it again good buddy. It'll be an immense treat to talk about this movie again later down the road this year.

Well that about does her. Wraps it all up. I sure hope I can see significantly more movies this year but come what may I'm happy to have you all aboard for another year of ramblings and reviews. All my best wishes for a new year, be safe out there as always, and I'll be seeing you in the glow of the screens.

Top 10 Films Of 2024

New year, same old controversial top 10.

10. Dune Part Two — Ohhh I did it again! I do promise we'll do an In Retrospect later this year on the whole damn thing. Solid first entry for the list regardless.

9. The Fall Guy — Nothing but fun and entertaining. Ryan you got me again buddy!

8. Wicked — Despite the minor grumbles I had this easily was the big event movie of the year that not only dipped below my radar but crept up on me in no time. Ace!

7. Godzilla × Kong — Of course I gotta put this on here, kaiju lover that I am. Outrageous, silly, but undeniably up my alley.

6. Alien Romulus — Ooh hoo we're getting good now! A much much needed breath of fresh air in the space terror franchise. Fingers crossed for some continuation.

5. Nosferatu — Horny my ass! Dark, gothic, even slightly romantic certainly fits the bill more here. Seems to be a home run for most people anyway

4. Monkey Man — The most unexpectedly grand action movie I've ever seen in my life, and would easily love to see again. Nobody talks about it but everyone should see it. Solid gold.

3. Lisa Frankenstein — If this movie was further up my alley it would be inside of me. Lavish, hilarious, and a grand slam directorial debut in my opinion. Call me a fan.

2. Heretic — Wasn't even slightly aware of where this was going but I could not have been happier seeing it. This is one of those movies people will discuss for years.

1. Rite Here Rite Now — Yeah, I knowww! Concert movie, nichè, totally biased. Welcome to the show everybody! Don't care at all, absolutely loved it, super proud to own it, take me to church Papa!

So hail Satan (or Santa if you're dyslexic), and I'll see you soon for some unexpected horror goodies to kick off the new year.

Top 10 Films of 2023

Well here we are again. Let's go.

10. John Wick 4. Yeah I couldn't have been more out of the loop if I tried but it was still a really good movie and a great conclusion.

9. Blue Beetle. Bit of an underrated gem as far as I'm concerned with heart and charm to spare.

8. Super Mario Bros. The Movie. One of the best video game movies for sure and it gave us the song for this generation, Peaches.

7. Renfield. Very much a niché movie, made specifically for me, and I loved it!

6. Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves. Fun, unadulterated fun, and well worth all the research I put in.

5. Asteroid City. Such a unique film and had a charm that struck the right chords for me, and was funny to boot.

4. Spider-Man Across The Spiderverse. Holy cow was this a visual feast and easily today's Empire Strikes Back. Kino for certain.

3. Oppenheimer. Heavier than a 1,000 ton lead ball and took a long while for me to get over it, but it undoubtedly is worth watching.

2. Barbie. God...damn it! It had less than zero right being this wonderful and amazing, and the only film on this list to make me shed a tear.

1. Godzilla Minus One. Okay the top 2 are interchangeable, but this was such a rock solid film and I still kinda feel it's better than the 1954 original but we shall see. I just was blown away how grand it was and plead for people to see it in theaters.

And just for shits and giggles worst film of the year hands down, Expendables 4. Pretty good year and here's hoping for even better on this leap year. Can't be worse than the last...

Top 10 Films Of 2019

Goodbye last decade. So which films were the best in my eyes for this year? Well....

10. Toy Story 4. Now I know I had issues with the ending, but the entertainment value was high and was still a very well crafted movie, and if nothing else gave us Forky. It's not trash, but we love it like trash.

9. Alita Battle Angel. This was unexpected but I greatly enjoyed the manga series and am eagerly awaiting future sequels. I am all for this world and these characters, and the visual style looked amazing. A hidden gem for the year.

8. Detective Pikachu. I'm not a Ryan Reynolds fan, but even I admit he was surprisingly good in this movie and while it's a nostalgia trip for 90s kids like me it was totally awesome! And so far is one of the best video game movies ever made.

7. Glass. I know, I know. Looking past that though, Glass is a really good movie and one I enjoyed so much. I think it just goes to show how much people cared about this series and more importantly characters, to rage so much at the ending.

6. Shazam. One of the most fun and entertaining DC movies to date, this I do feel was better than Aquaman and I really digged Aquaman, but the fact they took such a simple template as a super hero movie and did something different with it must be appreciated.

5. The Dead Don't Die. Hilarious, odd, a footnote in other people's books but a big hit for me.

4. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Tarantino does it again, and I am loving it. This is a great film and well worth repeated viewings, is it his best? Time will tell.

3. Godzilla King Of The Monsters. Screw the critics, this movie rocks. I have spoken.

2. The Rise Of Skywalker. It's treason then, but I loved it. I got a fun space adventure that capped off the main series while still finishing it's own story, and I had a blast. Others though? I can feeeeel your anger....

1. Joker. Oh what a shock. I just M. Night Shyamalan'd your ass! So sue me, it was the best of the year. I loved it, and I hope it gets more love.

It does suck that I ran into financial situations near the end of the year, cause I know I missed a bit but new year new decade, come what may the show must go on, this is the way. And I will see you next week for the first review.
